Our little abode
We rented a cute little AirBnB near the top of a mountain. It was a treacherous drive getting up there, but once we were there, the view overlooking Magen’s Bay made it all worthwhile.

One of the stops I was most looking forward to seeing was our school. The St. Thomas SDA School is where I attended and my parents taught. In fact, the members of the church actually built that school with their hands.
Every weekend, all the tradesmen of the church came out to build the church and school. That was almost 40 years ago, and it still stands looking good!
The school’s new principal, Renee Hodge was a student during my time there and was in both of my parents’ classes. After leaving to run schools in Florida, she came back home to lead the school where she started.
I also got a chance to go around the back and visit the 4th grade classroom where my mother taught me.

Food Faves
We ate well on the island — great restaurants with spectacular views, not to mention food.
Ginips - a local favorite. We climbed the trees to pick these when I was a kid.
Animals roam
One of the things that you quickly notice about island life is how the animals roam free and unafraid of humans. Almost every parking lot had chickens running around and iguanas relaxing in the sun.
Roosters woke us every morning and crowed for hours like there was no snooze button.
We even saw deer, which I never remember seeing back when I grew up here.
